GrowthConnection adds value in two primary ways: quality and speed.  Assuming you can capture the attention of a potential investor, you’ll want your plan to be succinct and compelling.  The reality is that only the best plans get funded and ultimately result in business success.  It takes an excellent plan to get into the final rounds, and an excellent presentation to win.  Quality is achieved by combining your vision and industry knowledge with my business planning and marketing experience.

Hiring a consultant shouldn’t take the place of your own understanding of your business plan.  A consultant may help design the plan, but you’ll have to make it happen.  Even if you’re not the person who creates your financial models and projections, it’s essential that you understand them and understand the assumptions behind the numbers.  You’ll impress investors by knowing your business plan inside out.  But you need a great plan.  For this reason, working with GrowthConnection is a collaboration.  The GrowthConnection process gets quickly to the heart of the issues which we discuss thoroughly as we develop the plan.  And when you feel that you have a mastery of the entire plan, our role is essentially complete.

Creating a good business plan is conceptually easy but takes thought and legwork to get right.  Time is of the essence.  The value of achieving a good plan three months earlier is usually equal to three months of mature sales.  This is because a company can control the introduction of a product or service, but rarely has control over its obsolescence.  Cost of product launch delays.

A few good reasons to work with GrowthConnection:

These are a few examples of good reasons to work with GrowthConnection:

·         You have writer's block or you are not a very good writer.  You’ll have to learn to write, or hire, cajole or entice a writer to work with you to finish your plan.  Your plan must show you’ve mastered the business.  Poor writing comes across as muddled thinking—not mastery.  Besides, poor writing is dreadful to read, and venture capitalists see a lot of it each year.  Clear writing puts you far ahead of the pack.

·         You're busy - if you had time to write it, it would already be done.

·         You are not a number cruncher.

·         You are not experienced creating powerful PowerPoint presentations.

·         You receive unbiased and experienced perspective, so your plan is more potent and your message more powerful.

·         I will track down additional information and insights to improve your plan.

·         I will accurately reflect your company in a business plan that is clear, concise and to the point.

·        Our fees are a fraction of other firms due to our ability to work closely with clients via the Internet. We keep our prices down by working electronically.  We’ll talk often by telephone and trade a lot of email.

… and a few reasons when you should not:

·         You just need a writer.  My primary contribution is working with you to develop the plan and writing is merely the last step.  If this is all you need, look for an editor or business writer.

·         You’re not doing business in USA.  I’m not an expert in some of the tax and other policies outside the USA so this would be beyond my expertise.

Best of Both Worlds

Develop your plan with GrowthConnection to raise the capital you need, then rename your business plan to become your operational plan.  You can add the additional detail you want in each functional area.  I give you that great head start towards a successful regular planning regime.  With GrowthConnection you receive:

·         A strong business plan that serves as a starting point for your operational plan, and many ideas and examples about how to keep this valuable as a "living document".

·         Robust, mathematically and financially correct financials.  You’ll receive a set of key tables that link assumptions, sales, personnel, profit & loss, cash flow, balance sheet, and ratios, so that any change in one affects all the others.

·         A useful draft document with text, tables, and charts already merged on the page

I deliver the plan to you with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint formats.  They will be easy for you to continue on your own and reap the important benefits of business plans.  This will help you make the transition from a business plan to an operating plan.
